GCNYC IMPORTANT COVID-19 Update- Extension of Online Instruction through TRI-C

Dear GCNYC Community,

Online Instruction Extended Through Trimester C

As we continue to monitor and respond to the public health situation regarding COVID-19, Glasgow Caledonian New York College fully recognizes the importance of ensuring the safety of our students, faculty, staff and your families. To this end, all Trimester C classes will be conducted remotely for the entirety of the term, which begins Monday, April 6 and ends Thursday, June 25.

GCNYC staff will continue to work remotely as well and are available via email, phone or Zoom.

June Dissertation Town Hall and Commencement Exercise

As a result of our decision to extend remote instruction until the end of June, we regret to inform you that we have decided to postpone the June Dissertation Town Hall and Commencement ceremony.

These celebrations are the highlight of our academic year and I know they mean as much to you as they do to us. The COVID-19 outbreak does however give us no other option at the present time. This is deeply disappointing to us but keeping our community safe is our main priority and I hope you will understand the reason behind this difficult decision.

The decision to postpone the March Dissertation Town Hall and the June ceremony in no way impedes your ability to graduate and receive your degree. Those eligible to graduate will do so in absentia, and will have the option to participate in a future ceremony.

Unfortunately, we are not in a position at this moment to announce an alternative plan. The situation is uncertain and is riddled with too many unknowns. We are and will continue to consider how and when the future ceremonies will take place, and we will have a plan to honor and celebrate your successes.

I thank you very much for your ongoing patience and understanding at this time.

Warm Regards,

Jacqueline LeBlanc

Vice President & Provost
