Director of Assessment and Accreditation

Viktoria Popova is the Director of Assessment and Accreditation at Glasgow Caledonian New York College. Her specialty is in Prior Learning Assessment, with an emphasis on assessing workplace and tacit learning through innovative techniques, such as cognitive mapping.  

Viktoria’s experience in learning assessment has been supported by her role as a COO for a Knowledge Management company “MindAppster” (established by Glasgow Caledonian University).  Viktoria’s work in academic learning and organizational knowledge management and assessment concentrates on exploring and implementing  Systems Thinking approaches to generating problem solving. 

Viktoria has multiple publications and presentations at national and international conferences on such areas as Prior Learning Assessment, Adaptive Learning, Crowdsourcing, MOOCs, and Concept Mapping. 

Viktoria has served as Editorial Board Member, Contributing Editor, and Adjunct Manuscript Reviewer at  “ The Journal of Continuing Higher Education,” “PLA Inside Out: An International Journal on Theory, Research and Practice in Prior Learning Assessment,” and “The International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning.”

Viktoria has a BS in Psychology, an MA in English (Master’s Thesis in Lexicography), and an ABD in Leadership in Curriculum Development.
